Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool continue to build a team with a mix of present and future players and remains interested in signing Fabio Carvalho
. Luis Diaz comes from Porto for an initial fee of £37.5m and they were close to adding another youngster too but snatched Carvalho in time to close.
They remain interested in the 19-year-old, who is due to expire at the end of the season.
“Our approach is to sign the right players at the right time. We are aware of issues like perspective or contracts,” Klopp said to the ufabet
. But we don’t miss looking at the future too and that’s what we’re doing.”
“We are Liverpool, so we can’t just work with the youngsters and say ‘wait a few more years and they’ll be ready’. It always has to be mixed.”
Carvalho is seen as the player of the future. With seven goals and four assists in 18 league games and it’s no surprise that many. The club were interested in
Liverpool reaching an agreement with Fulham on the closing date of the transfer window but they were unable to handle the paperwork in time. The transfer has not yet occurred.
“Of course we are still interested. It would be crazy if we didn’t pay attention. But right now it’s not up to us.
” But we will know how it will be.”
