FIFPro slams FIFA for allowing matches to be played in the sun

Players have contacted their players’ unions to complain about the heat during the Club World Cup. FIFPro, the world footballers’ union, has confirmed at least two matches should have been abandoned due to the heat. Including Chelsea’s clash with ES Tunis, with temperatures in the region of 30C (104F) making it unsafe for players. FIFPro is also urging

FIFA to cancel midday matches, particularly for next year’s World Cup in the United States. Because the temperatures at that time were too hot.

Fifa protocols allow for a cooling break lasting for three minutes in each half if temperature thresholds are exceeded. According to เล่นเกมคาสิโน UFABET ทันสมัย ฝากถอนง่าย’s medical director, Dr Vincent Gouttebarge. An extended half-time break would provide a necessary additional tool in helping to keep players’ core temperatures within their normal range.

“Some players have already contacted their unions about this, but the specifics are up to them to decide. We will try to approach FIFA with common sense arguments – for example, the MLS in the US has not played a midday match in Florida for a long time – and that will be the main argument in our negotiations,”

added Dr Vincent Goutbach, FIFPro’s medical officer. “There is a certain temperature threshold that, if exceeded, games should be postponed immediately.” The criteria is a WBGT of 28 degrees Celsius.”

“In principle, the games between PSG and Atletico Madrid and Chelsea and ES Tunis should be postponed to a cooler time, or if there is no real gap, it would be safer to move them to another day.”
